President Erdoğan performs Friday prayer at Kerem Aydınlar Mosque in Istanbul

 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan performed Friday prayer at Kerem Aydınlar Mosque in the Üsküdar district of Istanbul.

President Erdoğan answered reporters’ questions after the prayer.

Regarding Turkey’s vaccination drive, President Erdoğan stated that the inoculation process will hopefully have been completed between May and June, and said: “We are making our preparations and, in addition to the vaccines we already bought from China, I thoroughly discussed this issue with Minister of Foreign Affairs of China. The first agreement we reached with China was actually for 100 million doses of the Chinese vaccine. 50 million doses were to be received in the first phase. However, these 50 million doses have yet to arrive. These 50 million doses were set to be delivered to us by the end of February. We reminded them of this issue yesterday again.”

President Erdoğan added that Turkey also received 1.4 million out of 10 million BioNTech vaccines from Germany the day before yesterday. 

Asked about the attack carried out yesterday against a mosque in the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus, President Erdoğan said that conducting such an attack during the EU Summit is nothing but provocation and that Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already taken necessary steps concerning the attack.
