President Erdoğan performs Friday prayer at Melike Hatun Mosque in Ankara

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan performed Friday prayer at Melike Hatun Mosque in Ankara after receiving congratulations on the occasion of August 30 Victory Day at the Presidential Complex.

Answering reporters’ questions following the Friday prayer, President Erdoğan, in response to a question about Idlib, said the situation as regards the city is not quite to Turkey’s liking.

Noting that a lot of people were killed and displaced from their homes in Idlib, President Erdoğan stated: “They are now pushing towards the north, heading towards us. We have taken all the necessary precautions. Our 12 observation posts are on the alert. There have been some harassments targeting our observation posts No. 9 and 10. Yet, necessary warnings have been issued following our talks with Mr. Putin.”

Asked about his latest visit to Russia and his inspections of Russia’s Su-57 fighter aircrafts at MAKS 2019 aviation fair, President Erdoğan said Ankara will fend for itself should the U.S. carry on with its current stance on the F-35 fighters’ sale to Turkey.
