President Erdoğan, PM Meloni of Italy talk over phone

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy.
The call addressed Türkiye and Italy's bilateral relations as well as regional and global matters.
Noting that Türkiye and Italy reached a bilateral trade volume of 32 billion dollars in 2024 and that this figure could be increased by expanding trade and investment relations, President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye seeks to foster greater cooperation with Italy in many areas, particularly in the defense industry and energy.
Stressing the importance of taking action without delay to reconstruct Syria, President Erdoğan expressed his belief that lifting sanctions on Syria, along with Italy's leadership in this matter, would benefit the process.
