President Erdoğan’s statement on the export of the national combat aircraft KAAN to Indonesia

 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced on his social media account that under the agreement signed with Indonesia, 48 national combat aircraft, KAAN, which will be produced in Türkiye, will be exported to Indonesia.

President Erdoğan, stating that he wanted to share a very important and positive development regarding the national combat aircraft KAAN, said, "As part of the agreement we signed with our friend and brother Indonesia, 48 KAANs will be produced in Türkiye and exported to Indonesia. Indonesia's local capabilities will also be utilised in the production of KAAN."

President Erdoğan expressed his hope that this agreement, which demonstrates the advancement and progress of Türkiye's domestic and national defence industry, would be beneficial for Türkiye and Indonesia, and said:

"I extend my greetings and gratitude to my esteemed counterpart, President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia, who, through his determination, played a critical role in signing the agreement. I congratulate all our agencies involved in producing KAAN and signing this record export contract in Türkiye's history, especially our Secretariat of Defence Industries and TAI. I wish continued success to all of our companies, to which we have provided various forms of assistance in order to strengthen our defence industry and will continue to do so with determination, and I would like to express my gratitude to all of my brothers and sisters working in the defence industry."

Meanwhile, the Presidency’s Head of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, quoted President Erdoğan’s statement in a post on his social media account.

In his post, Head of Communications Altun said:

“Thanks to the visionary leadership of our President, Türkiye has become one of the few countries capable of exporting a 5th-generation fighter jet.

Our National Combat Aircraft, KAAN, has achieved its first export success through the agreement signed with our friend and brother, Indonesia.

This major step, taken in line with our goals of independence and high technology in the defence industry, stands as one of the most concrete indicators of our Century of Türkiye vision.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our brothers and sisters who contributed to this historic achievement.”
