President Erdoğan: The investments made and the capabilities to be gained as part of the Turboshaft Engine Development Project will turn TEI into a role model in its area in our country

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke, via videoconference from Vahdettin Mansion in Istanbul, at the Ceremony for Delivery of Our First Helicopter Engine TEI-TS1400 and for Opening of Design Center.

“TEI, ONE OF TURKEY’S NATIONAL DEFENSE INDUSTRY COMPANIES, HAS NOW BECOME A BRAND THAT DESIGNS, BUILDS AND EXPORTS ENGINES”

Noting that today marks an important day in the Turboshaft Engine Development Project, launched by Turkey’s Defense Industries Presidency and managed by TUSAS Engine Industries Inc. (TEI), President Erdoğan said: “The investments made and the capabilities to be gained as part of the Turboshaft Engine Development Project will turn TEI into a role model in its area in our country. The Design Center will help our engineers and design and R&D units to work in a much more efficient and coordinated manner.”

Highlighting that TEI, one of Turkey’s national defense industry companies which is also active globally, has now become a brand that designs, builds and exports engines, President Erdoğan stressed that Turkey, with the Turboshaft Engine Project, has also built a major infrastructure for the testing of similar engines that can also be used for the testing of such higher-class engines as the National Combat Aircraft Engine.

“WE HAVE BEEN WORKING DAY AND NIGHT FOR 18 YEARS TO BUILD A DEFENSE INDUSTRY THAT MEETS THE NEEDS OF TODAY AND THE FUTURE”

“We see it again and again in every step we take that in the region we live, we cannot look to the future with confidence unless we have a strong defense industry. We have been working day and night for the last 18 years to build the kind of defense industry meeting the needs of today and the future amid the ongoing transformation of conventional warfare,” the President said.

Drawing attention to the investments and incentives provided in every sphere of the Turkish defense industry ranging from ships and tanks to UAVs to satellites, President Erdoğan stated that they, as the leadership, particularly support the works in critical areas that would contribute to eliminating foreign dependency.
