President Erdoğan: The knowledge the Islamic scholars have contributed to the world continues to enlighten the path of humanity even today

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech during an event at Beştepe People’s Culture and Convention Center in Ankara, marking 2019 as the Year of Prof. Fuat Sezgin.
Noting that no effort is spared in order to make Istanbul one of the most prestigious centers of science and culture of the world, President Erdoğan stated that citizens in Turkey enjoy easier access to higher education and that scholars can carry out studies in a large variety of scientific areas since each one of its 81 provinces is now home to at least one university.
Drawing attention also to the ancient and remarkably rich civilization of Islam, President Erdoğan said: “The knowledge the Islamic scholars have contributed to the world in a wide range of areas from medicine, astronomy and mathematics to chemistry, physics and politics still continues to enlighten the path of humanity even today.”
