President Erdoğan: The past is a compass for the future
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech during a gathering of citizens that hail from Samsun and currently reside in Istanbul.
Recalling that the centennial of the start of the Turkish War of Independence will be celebrated this year with various events, President Erdoğan underlined that they will once again highlight through those events how Ghazi Mustafa Kemal and his comrades in arms reached victory in the War of Independence despite all the privations at the time. “We will do so because the past is a compass for the future. We cannot comprehend the value of our freedom without knowing about whom the Turkish people challenged and how they managed to survive,” the President said.
TERROR ATTACK IN NEW ZEALAND
Also touching upon the terror attack against the Al Noor Mosque in New Zealand, President Erdoğan said: “I wish Allah’s mercy upon our brothers martyred in New Zealand and recovery to the injured. We, as Turkey and the Summit Chair of the OIC, will follow this issue until the end and endeavor in order for similar massacres not to take place in different parts of the world.”
