President Erdoğan: This is a parliament founded not at the table but on the battlefield
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the July 15 Martyrs Commemoration held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT) on the occasion of the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
“OURS IS A PARLIAMENT THAT MARCHED TO VICTORY FIGHTING NOT ONLY THE ENEMY BUT ALSO TREASON”
It is not without reason that FETO-member traitors specifically targeted the GNAT on July 15, 2016, President Erdoğan underlined, and said: “This is a parliament founded not at the table but on the battlefield. This is a parliament that marched to victory fighting not only the enemy but also treason. This is a parliament that gave hope to our nation and got it back on its feet after every troublesome period.”
President Erdoğan stated: “I know of no other parliament in the world that deserves the title of ‘ghazi’ this much. Nor do I know of any other nation that defends its parliament so vigorously - even using its own body as a shield to protect it when needed.”
“JULY 15 WAS A HISTORIC TURNING POINT WITH VERY BIG CALCULATIONS BEHIND IT”
Stressing that the July 15 was by no means an ordinary coup attempt but was rather a historic turning point with very big calculations behind it that would have dragged Turkey and the Turkish people into a completely different direction if it had been successful, President Erdoğan said: “The July 15 constitutes the last ring of the chain of existential fights we have been waging throughout our centuries-long presence on these lands. Be sure that whoever is working to belittle, trivialize, discredit or caricaturize the July 15, his aim is to conceal and overshadow the deep and historic meaning it has.”
“WE CONTINUE OUR MARCH MUCH MORE STRONGLY AND DETERMINEDLY BOTH FOR OURSELVES AND OUR FRIENDS”
Describing the differences of opinion present at the parliament as an asset, President Erdoğan noted: “The Grand National Assembly of Turkey is a source of hope for hundreds of millions of brothers and sisters of ours in our region and across the world along with our 83 million citizens in Turkey. Every decision we make, every word we utter and every stance we display has an exponential impact across a vast geography. With our parliament, presidency, diplomacy, military and infrastructure, we continue our march much more strongly and determinedly both for ourselves and our friends.”
