President Erdoğan: Troy museum is the latest example of our efforts to duly pass on our history to next generations

 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the official opening ceremony of Troy Museum.

“WE HAVE RESTORED THE REGION’S ANCIENT HISTORY AS A CULTURAL TREASURE OF THE WORLD”

“Ten days ago, I inaugurated the Göbekli Tepe archaeological site. Today, we are taking another step to protect our history. Troy Museum is the last link of our project to reunite Çanakkale with its history and turn the city once again into a center of attraction for all humanity,” President Erdoğan said.

“We have conducted many projects in Çanakkale and on the peninsula in this direction. Through comprehensive, delicate, careful and ardent work, we have restored the region’s ancient history as a cultural treasure of the world,” President Erdoğan underscored.

President Erdoğan continued his speech as follows: “Anatolia, one of the oldest settlements in the world, is like an open air museum teeming with history. Every city in Turkey from Çanakkale to Mardin, from Antalya to Trabzon, from Çorum to Niğde, has been a home to different cultures and civilizations throughout history.”

“Troy Museum is the latest example of our efforts to duly pass on our history to next generations. Troy, which was added by UNESCO to the World Heritage List in 1998, is one of our most important archaeological sites with its 5,000-year-old history. We declared the year 2018 ‘The Year of Troy’ to better promote it,” President Erdoğan said.
