President Erdoğan: Turkey has been marching in a bright direction and facing new traps yet again

President and Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan introduced the party’s mayoral candidates for Samsun and its districts.

CENTENARY OF GHAZI MUSTAFA KEMAL’S ARRIVAL IN SAMSUN

Recalling that the year of 2019 marks the centenary of Ghazi Mustafa Kemal’s arrival in Samsun, President Erdoğan noted that the Ghazi set out from Istanbul on May 16 and arrived in Samsun on May 19, lighting the Torch of Independence.

Stressing that celebrations that befit the importance of the centenary of the May 19 are scheduled across Turkey, President Erdoğan said: “We will reach the centenary of the inauguration of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT) next year and of the proclamation of the Republic in 1923. I see these dates, which constitute critical milestones on the bridge we have built from history to future, as a reminder and as an opportunity to review ourselves and as a manifestation of our devotion to our goals. Starting with the May 19, we will hold all the celebrations related to the last century in a fashion that will remind future generations of the sacrifices made for founding our homeland. Samsun is the city where this blessed struggle was not only initiated but also shaped.”

“WE DOT ON MECCA, MEDINA AND OTHER SYMBOLIC CITIES OF OUR CIVILIZATION”

Emphasizing that beginnings are of unique importance, President Erdoğan underlined that Turkey treasures the legacy the Turkish people inherited from their ancestors all over the world. Further stressing that the Turkish people also defend the cause of Al-Quds at the cost of their lives, President Erdoğan added: “That is why we dot on Mecca, Medina and other symbolic cities of our civilization.”

“TURKEY HAS BEEN MARCHING IN A BRIGHT DIRECTION AND FACING NEW TRAPS YET AGAIN"

President Erdoğan stated that new traps have been set in front of Turkey whenever it has entered the path of success or whenever it starts to march toward big goals. “Over the past 16 years, Turkey has been marching on the path of success in a bright direction and it has been facing new traps yet again,” President Erdoğan emphasized, citing the incidents that have taken place in the last five or six years such as the Gezi incidents, the December 17-25 coup attempt of the judiciary and security, and acts of terror committed by the PKK and FETO
