President Erdoğan: Turkey has distinguished itself by further enhancing its capabilities during the pandemic

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inaugurated in Istanbul’s Sancaktepe district an emergency hospital that was newly-built and named after Feriha Öz, a professor of medicine who lost her life fighting against COVID-19.

Stressing that the hospital, which can be fully transformed into an intensive care center when needed, was constructed in just two months, President Erdoğan said: “Turkey has distinguished itself by further enhancing its capabilities while also making the most of the resources at its disposal at a time when the healthcare systems in many other countries across the world have collapsed because of the pandemic.”

It is a worldwide success to build a hospital like this one, which has 72,000 m2 indoor space and over 1,000 beds as well as state-of-the-art technology, in such a short time, said the President. Emphasizing the importance Turkey attaches to medical tourism, President Erdoğan added: “We have transferred here cutting-edge technology. These hospitals, the most visible indicators of the level Turkey has reached in healthcare services, will serve anyone seeking remedy in our country along with our own citizens. We foresee that the number of foreign patients, having neared 750,000 last year, will multiply in years to come.”
