President Erdoğan: Turkey has successfully coped with the pandemic
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inaugurated Prof. Dr. Asaf Ataseven Hospital in Istanbul.
Making a speech at the opening ceremony of the hospital, President Erdoğan underlined that Turkey has successfully coped with the pandemic, and said: “Thanks be to Allah, we have not witnessed any scenes of people helplessly struggling in hospital corridors, corpses piling on top of one another or medical personnel crumbling under workload. Likewise, there have been no scenes of people who, after being discharged from hospital, have confronted medical bills which they couldn’t pay off even if they have sold all their assets. That is so because Turkey provides free healthcare to the citizens thanks to its general health insurance, a rarity in terms of its scope and inclusivity.”
Drawing attention to the recent investments made in healthcare and infrastructure across the country, President Erdoğan stated: “I am of the belief that inaugurating a facility such as this one amid the pandemic, during which we have better understood the value of health, is of distinct significance. Every crisis we live makes us realize yet again the importance of the distance Turkey has covered in the areas of infrastructure and basic services over the past 18 years.”
