President Erdoğan: Turkey values strengthening its economic cooperation with Ukraine

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the Ukraine-Turkey Business Forum in Kyiv.

Stating besides the bilateral relations between the two countries, Turkey also values strengthening its economic cooperation with Ukraine, and added: “Ukraine, beyond being a friendly country for us, is our strategic partner. In terms of their geographical locations and economies, Turkey and Ukraine see each other as valuable partners, not rivals.” Drawing importance to the Turkey-Ukraine High Level Strategic Council as to this perspective, President Erdoğan said bilateral relations and regional issues were discussed during the Council meeting, and that the contractual basis of the bilateral relations were further strengthened with the signing of various agreements.

“WE AIM TO INCREASE OUR BILATERAL TRADE VOLUME TO $10 BILLION BY 2023”

Underscoring that private sectors are the engines of economies in today’s world, President Erdoğan, recalling the $4.8-billion trade volume between Turkey and Ukraine, noted that the two countries aim to increase this figure to 10 billion U.S. dollars by 2023. Drawing importance to the role and support of the business world in achieving this goal, President Erdoğan went on to say that the meeting of the Turkey-Ukraine Trade and Economic Cooperation Committee is planned to be held in March.
