President Erdoğan: Turkish Red Crescent and Emergency Management Authority have the capacity to meet all needs
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid a visit to Izmir in the aftermath of the 6.6-magnitude earthquake.
Briefed on the ongoing debris removal and search and rescue efforts in the city, President Erdoğan made a speech at AFAD’s coordination center.
Noting that 37 citizens lost their lives and 885 were injured in the earthquake, President Erdoğan said that 218 people were currently receiving treatment and that 103 others were rescued from collapsed buildings.
Drawing attention to the ongoing efforts to heal the wounds caused by the quake, President Erdoğan pointed out that citizens affected by the earthquake will be provided accommodation. “Our preparations to this end are going on and we don’t have any shortcomings in this matter. AFAD and Turkish Red Crescent Kizilay have the capacity to meet all the needs including food,” the President said.
Touching on the messages of solidarity and condolences from 88 countries including Bulgaria, Greece, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), President Erdoğan thanked them all on behalf of the Turkish nation.
