President Erdoğan: Turkistan will once again be a center of attraction and enlightenment
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks at a joint press conference following the 8th Summit of the Turkic Council, held under the theme of “Green Technologies and Smart Cities in the Digital Age” on Democracy and Freedoms Island.
Beginning his words by thanking the participants, President Erdoğan said: “We have decided that our family council, which has become an internationally-respected organization, will continue its activities with a new name. From now on, our council will be called the Organization of Turkic States.”
Recalling that the beginning of the week marked the first anniversary of the liberation of Karabakh, President Erdoğan said: “I once again congratulate all my brothers and sisters in Azerbaijan, President Aliyev in particular. The victory, Azerbaijan won under the leadership of my dear brother, has made the entire Turkic world proud.”
Noting that President Aliyev, who led the epic victory in Karabakh, was awarded the Supreme Order of Turkic World during the summit as a token of the Turkic world’s appreciation, President Erdoğan said: “During the summit, we have taken over the term chairmanship of the our family council from Azerbaijan. I thank Azerbaijan who successfully fulfilled its duties as the chairman despite the difficult conditions of the pandemic.”
“NO BORDER CAN SEPARATE BROTHERS”
President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: “With our new name and structure, which is the Organization of Turkic States, we will develop, flourish and grow stronger in a faster manner. Inshallah, the sun will soon start to rise once again from the east. The Turkistan region, which had been the cradle of civilization for thousands of years, will once again be a center of attraction and enlightenment for the entire humanity.”
“There are no borders that can separate brothers and sisters, who feed off of the same spiritual source, who share a common past, culture and ancestors,” President Erdoğan underlined. “We regard the picture we have given here today to be a new symbol of our eternal brotherhood as the Turkic world.”
Underscoring that the Turkic brothers and sisters were building a common future in unity and solidarity, President Erdoğan said: “We should keep in mind that much larger and effective organizations operate across the world on the basis of much fewer common denominators. The Organization of Turkic States is much more than a partnership of merely shared political and economic interests. It is a great union of hearts. The further we advance this union, the more beneficial works we can do for ourselves, our region and the world.”
