In answer to a question about the apprehension of one of DAESH’s senior leaders Bashar Khattab Ghazal al-Sumaidai and Türkiye’s fight against terrorism, President Erdoğan stressed that it is the Turkish security forces that have carried out the most comprehensive and the most determined operations against DAESH in the world and that the West have failed to undertake a proper fight against the this terrorist organization thus far. Asked about the joint exercise which the US troops affiliated with the Combined Joint Task Force, formed to fight DAESH, carried out the previous day in collaboration with PKK/YPG terrorists near the Turkish border, President Erdoğan stressed the US, which keeps taking wrong steps as regards the SDF, continues to provide thousands of truckloads of weapons, ammunition, equipment and vehicles to these terrorist organizations.
“I MAY ATTEND THE FUNERAL IF MY SCHEDULE ALLOWS”
Responding to a question about the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, President Erdoğan said he would be attending the funeral should his schedule allow. “IT IS NOT ONLY THE US THAT SELLS FIGHTER JETS IN THE WORLD”
Answering a question about US President Biden’s remarks that he continues his support for the bill that restricts F-16 sales to Türkiye, President Erdoğan recalled his meeting with Mr. Biden back in Madrid, saying: “You know that during our meeting in Madrid, Mr. Biden stated that he would give every kind of support in his power. He took a positive approach about the issue of F-16s. He also implied that the Republicans don’t support. Later on, my Foreign Minister had a meeting with a senior Republican in Bulgaria. He asked for the Republicans’ support on this issue during that meeting. They said they might give Türkiye the necessary support as the Republicans. I hope the US doesn’t push us to resort to other paths regarding this matter. What I mean by other paths is that it is not only the US that sells fighter jets in the world. The UK, France and Russia also sell it. It can be procured from everywhere. There are those who send us signals for this.”
