President Erdoğan: Türkiye now has a say on a global scale
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the opening ceremony of Artvin Yusufeli Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant, New Link Roads and Tunnels, and New Settlement in Artvin.
Underscoring that the 1.9 billion kilowatt-hours of energy to be produced annually at Yusufeli Dam and HEPP, whose installed capacity is 558 megawatts, would provide a 5-billion-lira worth of added value a year to the Turkish economy, President Erdoğan said: “The energy production capacity of Yusufeli Dam, whose water storage capacity is 2.3 billion cubic meters, is at a level where it can meet the energy need of 2.5 million homes or 750 thousand TOGG cars alone. In short, In Türkiye’s harshest geography, we have introduced a project together with its dam, plant, new settlement, roads and total cost of 34 billion liras. Let me underline once again. Do you know how much we have invested in here? 34 billion liras. With such an investment from our national budget, we have introduced a project befitting the Century of Türkiye in Yusufeli, Artvin.”
President Erdoğan noted: “When we had announced our goals for 2023 to the public 11 years ago, some people had sneered at us and mocked us in their wisdom. Over all these years, even though some circles have continuously sought to waste our time and energy, Türkiye has already gone beyond regional leadership, and now has a say on a global scale. The democracy and development standards, which we could not even dream of 25 years ago, are now each a natural part of our daily lives.”
