President Erdoğan visits Anıtkabir with Supreme Military Council members

 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and members of the Supreme Military Council visited Anıtkabir (Atatürk’s Mausoleum) before the meeting of the Supreme Military Council.

President Erdoğan, accompanied by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Chief of General Staff Gen. Metin Gürak, Land Forces Commander Gen. Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Naval Forces Commander Adm. Ercüment Tatlıoğlu and Air Forces Commander Gen. Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu, proceeded to Atatürk’s tomb through the Lion Road.

After President Erdoğan laid a wreath at the mausoleum, a moment of silence was observed and the national anthem was sung.

Later on, President Erdoğan wrote the following in the Anıtkabir Special Book at the Misak-ı Millî Tower:

“August Atatürk, today we once again stand in your presence as the members of the Supreme Military Council amid the increasing crises, conflicts and tensions in our near environ.

We continue to endeavor to make Türkiye the dynamo of its region in the global system that is being reshaped despite the traps set as well as domestic and foreign attacks. We are taking historic steps aimed at ensuring our nation’s future in a wide range of areas, from security, democracy and economy to technology, defense industry and foreign policy.

I believe that the 2025 meeting of our Council will be a new milestone on the path to the goal of the Century of Türkiye. We remember with grace Your Excellency and all our martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for our independence. Rest in peace!”
