President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and members of the Supreme Military Council visited Anıtkabir (Atatürk’s Mausoleum).
President Erdoğan, accompanied by Vice President Fuat Oktay, Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar, Minister of Justice Abdülhamit Gül, Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu, Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak, Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Chief of General Staff Gen. Yaşar Güler, Land Forces Commander Gen. Ümit Dündar, Naval Forces Commander Gen. Adnan Özbal and Air Forces Commander Gen. Hasan Küçükakyüz, proceeded to Atatürk’s tomb through the Lion Road.
Laying a wreath at the mausoleum, the President wrote the following in the Anıtkabir Special Book at the Misak-ı Milli Tower: “We will hold this year’s council meeting in a period of increasing threats, particularly in the north of Syria and the Eastern Mediterranean, against our country’s permanence and our people’s unity as well as against the rights and interests of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The Turkish Armed Forces, whose discipline, motivation, deterrence and mobility have grown stronger thanks to the measures we have taken in the wake of the July 15 treason, is our greatest assurance in the face of these threats. I hope the council’s works will lead to auspicious results for our country and nation. I remember Your Excellency and our august martyrs with mercy. Rest in peace!”
