President Erdoğan visits Simon Bolivar Monument in Venezuela
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited the Simon Bolivar Monument in Caracas as part of his official visit to Venezuela.
Welcomed by Vice President Delcy Rodriguez upon his arrival at the site of the monument, President Erdoğan greeted the children waiting for him with Turkish and Venezuelan flags in their hands in front of the monument and posed for a photo.
Following the playing of the national anthems of the two countries, President Erdoğan laid a wreath at the monument and wrote the following in the memorial book:
“I am living the great honor and happiness of paying the first Presidential visit from Turkey to Venezuela. I, by the side of his monument, remember with respect Simon Bolivar, the symbol of Latin America’s fight for independence and the legendary leader of the Venezuelan people.
El Libertador, whose memory we have upheld by naming one of the most central streets in Ankara after him, will continue to keep the fire of independence alive across the world as well as in Venezuela and Latin America with the unique legacy he had left behind.”
