President Erdoğan: We aim to make Turkey a center of attraction for all the scientists in the world
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Awards Ceremony held at the Presidential Complex.
Stating that some countries see science and technology as a destructive power and use them as a tool for exploitation, President Erdoğan said: “Our civilization, on the other hand, stands out among others in this sense. Children of this civilization produce science and develop technology merely for the sake of the humanity. Others use distant geographies as a field for training and start new wars whenever they develop a new technology. However, when we develop a new technology, we use it to eradicate poverty and inhumane scenes in those geographies and to change people’s lives.”
“127 HIGH-LEVEL RESEARCHERS HAVE MOVED THEIR STUDIES TO TURKEY”
Also touching upon Turkey’s vaccine works, President Erdoğan, underscoring that Turkey has mobilized the private institutions in the country as well so as to produce a domestic and national vaccine, said: “The investments made in this field are not limited to the pandemic period alone. As a country that designs, develops and produces its own vaccine, we will inshallah become a leading actor in the international arena in this field, which has been neglected for many years.”
Further stressing that the activities carried out by TÜBA within international umbrella organizations are of great importance in order to increase Turkey’s efficiency in the science world, President Erdoğan said: “We aim to make Turkey a center of attraction for all the scientists in the world as well as for our own citizens. In this regard, 127 high-level researchers from 21 different countries have moved their studies to Turkey through the International Fellowship for Outstanding Researchers Program.”
