President Erdoğan: We are breaking record in exports with our 170-billion-dollar export volume

 

President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at a meeting held to introduce AK Party’s mayoral candidates for Istanbul in the March 31 local elections.

“WE HAVE ENSURED A 9-MILLION INCREASE IN EMPLOYMENT IN THE PAST DECADE”

Underlining that Istanbul, together with its many qualities, is also the locomotive of Turkey’s economy, President Erdoğan said: “Inshallah, we are breaking record in exports with our 170-billion-dollar export volume. Our current deficit is dropping below $30 billion. Despite all troubles, we have ensured a 9-million increase in employment in the past decade. Our growth rate for the average of the first three quarters has been 4.7 per cent in spite of the fluctuations in exchange rates, interest rates and inflation. The direct investments made in our country has reached $9 billion as of the first 10 months of the year. We are indeed making a very good progress in defense industry. We now produce ourselves the 65 per cent of our defense industry needs. Besides we export these products.”

Following his remarks, President Erdoğan introduced AK Party’s candidate for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Binali Yıldırım, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, and other mayoral candidates for 36 districts in Istanbul.
