President Erdoğan: We are determined at all costs to make Idlib safe both for its people and Turkey

 

President and Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the party’s parliamentary group meeting.

“IDLIB OPERATION IS NOW JUST A MATTER OF TIME”

Noting that an epic fight is being put up in Syria, which is of critical importance not only for Turkey’s border security but also for the peace of its 83 million citizens, President Erdoğan said: “We respond in the strongest manner to harassments targeting our operation areas. We openly express on every occasion that in these areas we will have to take matters into our own hands should relevant countries fail to address Turkey’s security concerns. We are entering the final days in order for the regime to end its belligerence and retreat to the frontiers outlined in the Sochi Memorandum. We are issuing our last warnings.” 

Underlining that the talks held on the ground as well as in Turkey and Russia have thus far fallen short of desired outcomes, President Erdoğan stated: “Despite the fact that the talks will be continued, it is clear that the current stage is far behind the level we desire. Turkey is fully prepared to implement its operation plans concerning Idlib. As we did regarding previous operations, on this issue as well, we say that we can come one night all of a sudden. To be more precise, Idlib operation is now just a matter of time. We won’t abandon Idlib to the regime, which is still unable to grasp Turkey’s determination on the issue, or to those who encourage it. We by no means intend to shoulder the extra burden the developments in the region will place on our country. We are determined at all costs to make Idlib safe both for its people and Turkey.”
