President Erdoğan: We are determined to defend to the end our nation’s and the Turkish Cypriots’ rights in the seas
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at an event held in Giresun for the start of the fishing season.
President Erdoğan first addressed citizens in the Dereli district of flood-stricken Giresun. “Turkey has gained an understanding of planned urbanization which prioritizes infrastructure in the past 20 years. The lessons we learned from the flood in Giresun will shed light on our path during the works to be done in the period ahead,” President Erdoğan said.
“We as the state and the nation will join hands and develop our cities in line with the working of the world,” President Erdoğan underscored.
“THE NATURAL GAS DISCOVERY IN THE BLACK SEA HAS REFLECTED THE TRUE POTENTIAL OF OUR COUNTRY”
Wishing a fruitful and successful season to fishers, President Erdoğan, pointing to the natural gas discovery in the Black Sea, said: “Thanks be to Allah, we are getting good news from our seas this year. The 320-billion-cubicmeter natural gas discovery has shown that not only the inside but also the depths of the waters are also fertile. This discovery has reflected the true potential of our country which is surrounded by energy resources. We believe that the reserve we discovered will usher in a lot bigger resource.”
“WE WILL NEVER SUCCUMB TO PIRACY OR BANDITRY IN THE MEDITERRANEAN AND THE AEGEAN”
Underscoring that the Oruç Reis vessel is determinedly continuing its seismic exploration activities in the Eastern Mediterranean, President Erdoğan went on to say: “We will hope to get good news from the Mediterranean in a short span of time, too, as we got in the Black Sea. As the Turkish nation, we neither encroach on the rights of others nor allow anyone to encroach on our rights. We will never succumb to piracy or banditry in the Mediterranean and the Aegean. No one can confine our country, which has the longest coastline along the Mediterranean, to the coasts of Antalya. We are determined to defend to the end our nation’s and the Turkish Cypriots’ rights in the seas.”
“We know that all the 83 million people in Turkey stand with us in this issue. We advise those who, emboldened by former colonialists, defy Turkey to read once again their recent history,” President Erdoğan added.
