President Erdoğan: We are developing our economy on the pillars of investment, employment, production and export
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan chaired the National Security Council meeting at the Presidential Complex.
THE FIGHT AGAINST TERROR
It was stated in the written statement issued after the meeting that the Council was briefed on the operations firmly, unwaveringly and successfully conducted both at home and abroad against all the terrorist organizations, PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO and DAESH in particular, which posed a threat to Turkey’s national unity and solidarity, and survival.
Underscoring the importance of reaching a lasting and sustainable solution in Syria by protecting the country’s territorial integrity and political unity, the statement read: “It was noted that Turkey would, as had been the case so far, continue to support every attempt which would contribute to peace, serenity and stability in the region. Actors in Syria were called on to halt actions, which would deepen the ongoing humanitarian crisis.”
“LASTING SOLUTIONS IN CYPRUS SHOULD BE BROUGHT FORWARD ON THE BASIS OF TWO INDEPENDENT STATES”
Noting that Greece’s human rights violations against the Turkish minority and inhumane practices targeting refugees were discussed during the meeting, the Council called on Greece, which turned to stepping up its anti-Turkey policies despite calls for dialogue, to abide by international law and fulfill the requirements of good neighborly relations.
Stating that the current level, reached in the Cyprus issue, was reviewed during the meeting the statement read: “It was stated to be essential that comprehensive and lasting solutions, which were based on two independent states and justice, which took into consideration the realities in the Island, should be brought forward during the talks in the period ahead instead of approaches, which disregarded the Turkish presence and had not yielded any results in 50 years.”
“NEUTRAL AND PRUDENTIAL ATTITUDE SHOULD BE DISPLAYED IN THE EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN”
The statement read: “The progress, made in the political process in Libya, was welcomed. It was noted that Turkey would continue to provide all kinds of support to heal the wounds of the civil war as soon as possible and to restore peace and prosperity. Our sincere call for developing solutions in line with international law and policies, which would ensure the establishment and continuity of a climate of stability in the Eastern Mediterranean, was reiterated and the importance of adopting a joint approach, which would protect the mutual rights and interests of regional countries, was highlighted. Countries from outside the region and international actors were called on to display a neutral and prudential attitude.”
The determination to mobilize all the means and capabilities in order to swiftly conclude the works carried out in line with the national goal to elevate to the highest level Turkey’s economic, social, political and military security by 2023, the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic, was underlined.
