President Erdoğan: We continue our efforts day and night in order to further develop and strengthen our country
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed citizens following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex.
“TURKEY HAS EXPERIENCED GREAT TRANSFORMATION IN DEMOCRACY AND DEVELOPMENT OVER THE PAST 19 YEARS”
Drawing attention to the great transformation Turkey has experienced in democracy and development over the past 19 years, President Erdoğan said that the results of this transformation are visible in every area from people’s daily lives to Turkey’s position in the international arena.
Noting that the global economy, which had experienced major crises in 1929 and 2008, is now yet again reeling from economic challenges, President Erdoğan said that the low interest rates-cheap dollar madness had ramifications in developed countries, particularly in the US, which came to the surface with the 2008 crisis.
There are still setbacks in global economy that have yet to be dealt with, the President stressed, pointing out that the collapse experienced in the services sector, which makes up two thirds of the world national income, led to recession in the production sector as well, and that the functioning of the global economy was further undermined by developed countries’ monetary expansion and negative interest rates policies.
“OUR COUNTRY WILL EMERGE VICTORIOUS FROM THE WAR OF ECONOMIC LIBERATION”
“As a country with great knowledge and experience in financial crisis management just like in every area, we are determined to make use of the opportunities offered by the critical period the world is currently going through. We see the games those who seek to push our country out of the equation play over exchange rates, interest rates and price hikes as they used to do in the past, and we display our will to move forward with our own game plans,” the President said.
“We have seen the same game in many international incidents at many platforms but have honorably come out of every struggle we have undertaken by taking a firm stance. Just as we have liberated our country from so many traps and incidents, so will we ensure that our country emerges victorious from this war of economic liberation with the help of Allah and the support of our nation,” President Erdoğan underscored, expressing determination to do what is best for Turkey by pursuing economic policies that prioritize investments, production, employment, exportation and growth, instead of the vicious circle of high interest rates-low exchange rates which was experimented for a long duration without any results in the past.
“OUR DEFENSE INDUSTRY IS TRANSFORMING INTO ONE OF TURKEY’S LEADING INCOME ITEMS”
Further stressing that Turkey’s major projects bring no additional burden to the public finance thanks to the build-operate-transfer model, taken up as an example by the world, and that Turkey’s tourism revenues also continue to increase, President Erdoğan added: “Our defense industry is transforming into one of Turkey’s leading income items. Our successful crisis management in such unstable regions such as Syria, Libya and the Caucasus further expands our political and humanitarian movement areas. The natural gas we have found in the Black sea has further strengthened our hopes to resolve our energy problem, which is our largest foreign exchange expenditure.”
President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: “Each one of our organized industrial zones has turned into a ceaselessly working center of production with factories that have been newly built or have further expanded their capacities. Cognizant of the fact that one single employment in production leads to as many as four or five additional employments in logistics and other service sectors, we continue our efforts day and night in order to further develop and strengthen our country.”
