President Erdoğan: We have agreed on reaching a trade volume of $500 million
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço of Angola held a joint press conference at the Presidential Complex following their tête-à-tête and the meeting between the delegations.
“WE WILL VISIT ANGOLA WITH A GROUP OF BUSINESSPEOPLE”
Expressing his pleasure over hosting President Lourenço of Angola and his accompanying delegation in Ankara, President Erdoğan said that they held comprehensive meetings, in which they discussed all areas regarding politics, military, economy, trade, culture and defense industry, adding that this had been his second high-level meeting with President Lourenço since the one they held on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in 2017.
President Erdoğan noted that after the United Nations General Assembly, they would pay a return visit to Angola with a group of businesspeople to address on site such issues related to defense industry, tourism, economy, healthcare and healthcare tourism.
“WE HAVE AGREED ON REACHING A TRADE VOLUME OF $500 MILLION”
Drawing attention to the bilateral trade volume which currently stood at 176 million dollars, President Erdoğan stated: “This trade volume is too low for these two strong countries. We have agreed on reaching 500 million dollars at the first stage. The relevant ministers of both countries will take necessary steps. Either through Exim or through loans to be brought from abroad by our businesspeople who will participate in tomorrow’s meetings, these steps will be taken. Although from afar, we know and follow what kind of difficulties take place in Angola and Africa. As a country that has proven itself anytime anywhere in the fight against terror, Turkey will particularly stand by Angola as well.”
