President Erdoğan: We have already started preparations to build the Turkey of 2053 and 2071

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed via videoconference the opening ceremony of North Marmara Highway’s Gebze-Izmit section.

“EVERY STEP WE TAKE TO MAKE TURKEY A GLOBAL POWER CONSTITUTES A BUILDING STONE OF OUR VISION”

Stressing that preparations to build the Turkey of 2053 and 2071, critical anniversaries for the Turkish history, have already been started, President Erdoğan described leaving such a vision and country to future generations as one of the most important services to be rendered for the nation, and said: “We do so not in words, rhetoric or discourse, but take concrete actions. Every step we take with the aim of making Turkey a regional and global power constitutes a building stone of this vision.”

President Erdoğan continued: “In this regard, it is of critical importance that we become successful in our political, military and economic efforts spanning a large area from Syria and Libya to the Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea. The desire to derail our march toward this great vision lies behind the attempts to hinder economic and political steps our country takes.”

“WE HAVE ELIMINATED THE PANDEMIC’S EFFECTS ON ECONOMY TO A LARGE EXTENT”

Touching upon Turkey’s economic performance in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, President Erdoğan noted that what really matters is to keep the real economy afloat, and underlined that the pandemic’s effects on economy have been eliminated to a large extent in the third quarter thanks to the continuation of production. The President stated: “Key indicators regarding the course of economy signal positive developments that are more favorable than not only the second quarter but also the last year. Manufacturing, purchasing managers’ index has been above the 50 threshold for three consecutive months. With 54.3 in August, we surpassed even the U.S., Germany, France, the whole Euro region and South Korea. It is highly pleasing that there has been around 5.1 percent annual increase in manufacturing industry production despite the decline recorded in April and May.”
