President Erdoğan: We have carried out historic reforms in every area that will improve the justice system

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the opening ceremony of the Judicial Year 2019-2020 at Beştepe People’s Culture and Convention Center in Ankara.

“WE SHOULD ALWAYS PURSUE JUSTICE FOR OURSELVES AND THE ENTIRE HUMANITY”

“We should always pursue justice for ourselves and the entire humanity,” said President Erdoğan, and continued: “We should do so because the cries of people groaning under oppression across the world, particularly in the regions close to us, fill the skies. The current world order is in the mangle of a group of people who live in prosperity and luxury and to whom it matters more than anything else to maintain this lifestyle of theirs. We are faced with a mentality that exploits the economic resources and usurps the riches of the rest of the world for their own comfort and doesn’t refrain from engulfing the rest of the world in tears and fire with the excuse of defending their own freedoms.”

“RAISING QUALITY IN LEGAL EDUCATION CONSTITUTES ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENTS OF OUR JUDICIAL REFORM”

President Erdoğan said: “We have carried out historic reforms in every area that will improve the justice system. Today as well, we are preparing for new reforms in order to strengthen our democracy, fulfill our citizens’ demand for justice at the highest level and consolidate Turkey’s status as a state of law in the international arena.”

The strengthening of judicial independence and impartiality, along with the rule of law, is sine quo non to safeguard individual rights and freedoms, underlined President Erdoğan, and added: “High-quality human resource is the first condition for the proper functioning of the justice system, as is that case with any other area. Raising quality in legal education constitutes one of the most important elements of our judicial reform.”
