President Erdoğan: We have many successful projects of cooperation with Pakistan, which plays an important role in ensuring stability in South Asia
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan held a joint press conference following their meeting at Vahdettin Mansion in Istanbul.
Welcoming Prime Minster Sharif and his delegation, President Erdoğan stated that the third of the MILGEM corvette ships built for Pakistan has been launched today.
“PAKISTAN ALWAYS HAS A SPECIAL PLACE IN THE TURKISH NATION’S HEART”
Drawing attention to the special place of Pakistan, with which Türkiye enjoys long-standing historical, cultural and social bonds, in the Turkish nation’s heart, President Erdoğan said: “The solidarity and mutual support displayed by our respective countries and peoples particularly in difficult times have no parallels. I wish Allah’s mercy upon the soldiers who have been martyrized and the civilians who have lost their lives in recent terrorist attacks. I would like to re-emphasize our support for Pakistan’s fight against terror.”
Türkiye sees Pakistan’s sufferings, joy and success as its own, said the President. “In this spirit, we rushed to the aid of our Pakistani brothers and sisters with all our means during the flood disaster that took place a few months ago. We dispatched humanitarian supplies to the regions hit by the disaster, by 15 planes and 13 trains of benevolence via railway and an air corridor we established.”
“THERE HAS BEEN A STEADY RISE IN OUR BILATERAL TRADE VOLUME”
President Erdoğan stated: “As we mark the 75th year of our diplomatic relations, we also incessantly continue our works to advance our relations in every area with the strength and inspiration we draw from the brotherly ties between our peoples. We are pleased by the resumption of the Pakistan Airlines’ Istanbul flights.”
Stressing that Türkiye has many successful projects of cooperation with Pakistan, which plays an important role in ensuring peace and stability in South Asia, President Erdoğan said: “There has been a steady rise in our bilateral trade volume, which has reached 5 billion dollars. The talks my treasured brother will be holding tomorrow with our business representatives as part of his visit will for sure significantly contribute to such efforts.”
“OUR TRILATERAL COOPERATION WITH PAKISTAN AND AZERBAIJAN EXPANDS RAPIDLY”
Thanking Pakistani authorities for the timely measures taken against FETO’s activities in the country, President Erdoğan stated: “Our talks addressed our bilateral cooperation as well as international issues that are of mutual concern to us. Our trilateral cooperation with the brotherly Pakistan and the brotherly Azerbaijan expands rapidly. Türkiye and Pakistan, as two countries with shared values, act in solidarity at regional and international platforms like the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Economic Cooperation Organization, D-8 Organization, etc.”
President Erdoğan ended his speech as follows: “Establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan is imperative in terms of common threats and risks, beyond being our humanitarian duty towards our Afghan brothers and sisters. We will maintain our efforts in solidarity to mitigate the effects of the humanitarian crisis facing the Afghan people. Ending my remarks with these thoughts in my mind, I hope the MILGEM Corvette Ship, which we have launched today, may be auspicious for Pakistan.”
