President Erdogan: We have never given up the cause of serving Istanbul
President and Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the party’s 7th ordinary provincial congress in Istanbul.
“WE HAVE MADE 275 BILLION LIRAS’ WORTH OF INVESTMENT IN ISTANBUL IN 18 YEARS”
Drawing attention to the 275 billion liras’ worth of investment made in Istanbul over the last 18 years, President Erdoğan said: “We have opened 38,361 new classrooms. We have established 38 new universities in Istanbul, which is home to over 1 million higher education students and 37,500 academics. We have inaugurated higher education dormitories that can accommodate 13,677 students, with further investments set to be made to more than double the city’s dormitory capacity in the next couple of years. We have introduced 46 new sports facilities in Istanbul.”
Megaprojects such as Istanbul-Izmir Motorway, Northern Marmara Motorway, Marmaray, Eurasia Tunnel, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Osman Gazi Bridge have been implemented, the President pointed out, adding that all the technical preparations have already been completed for the Kanal Istanbul Project.

Drawing attention to Turkey’s fight against terror, President Erdoğan underscored Turkey’s determination to eliminate terrorism which poses the gravest threat to the peace, security and welfare in the country.
Further stressing that Turkey will safeguard its rights in all the waters around it including the Eastern Mediterranean, the Aegean and the Black Sea, President Erdoğan added: “We will strengthen our ties in every area with our brothers and sisters throughout our civilizational and cultural geography from the Balkans to the Caucasia, from the Central Asia to Africa.”
