President Erdoğan: We hope to start to leave behind this global health crisis as of next spring

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Complex.

Drawing attention to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, President Erdoğan said there was no other remedy for the time being but to take such measures that would minimize people’s mobility, and that what was more important that the citizens must obey the rules about wearing mask, exercising social distancing and preserving hygiene.

Underscoring that Turkey would definitely achieve success in its fight against the pandemic, President Erdoğan said: “Once we overcome this wave and with the beginning of the vaccination process, we will inshallah enter a period of struggle whose management and control would be easier. We hope to start to leave behind this global health crisis as of next spring.”

“OUR CITIZENS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO VACCINE WITHOUT PAYING ANY MONEY”

“We closely monitor vaccine developments in the world,” said President Erdoğan, and added: “At the first stage, we have made an agreement for 50 million doses. As we have stated since the very beginning, our citizens will have access to vaccine without paying any money at all. The administration of vaccine will inshallah begin as of next month, starting with healthcare workers. We also monitor on a daily basis domestic vaccine works, which has reached the stage of voluntary vaccination. We have to gain the time we need during this process by strictly adhering to the measures all together as the nation.”

“WE ARE DISPLAYING A HISTORIC STANCE IN SOCIAL, POLITICAL, DIPLOMATIC, ECONOMIC AND MILITARY TERMS”

“We are displaying a historic stance in social, political, diplomatic, economic and military terms in a vast geography, at the center of which our country is located. We have mobilized all our means to ensure the security of our own borders, provide support to friendly and brotherly peoples and extend a helping hand to all the oppressed and the wronged,” President Erdoğan went on to say.

“With Allah’s help and our nation’s support, we are thwarting one by one the attacks we have come under at home and abroad due to the independent, dignified and conscientious policies we have implemented.”

NEWS REPORTS AGAINST TURKEY IN THE FRENCH MEDIA

Also drawing attention to the increasing number of news reports against Turkey in the French media, President Erdoğan said: “We know well that it will be futile to expect a different behavior from a country where students at elementary schools are interrogated at police stations for hours for criticizing the caricatures insulting our Prophet. This is France; you can see nothing more, and never expect more.”

“Nevertheless, we reiterate our concerns regarding human rights and freedoms due to the antidemocratic attitude the government is displaying during incidents taking place in France.”

Further stressing that those who could not bring Turkey to its knees despite their attacks over the past seven years, President Erdoğan said: “They, with all their ministries and institutions, attack on our government, military, intelligence agency, the Presidency of Religious Affairs, defense industry, investments, and on even our hydrocarbon exploration activities in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.”
