President Erdoğan: We made history with glory, dignity and honor
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at a ceremony held in Çanakkale on the occasion of the March 18th Martyrs’ Day and the 104th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory.
Underlining that those who are unaware of the incidents that took place a century ago in Çanakkale and who don’t appreciate the struggle that was waged in Çanakkale aren’t worth the salt of this country, President Erdoğan said: “Those who consider the Battle of Çanakkale to be just an ordinary one can have nothing to do with these lands, this nation or this country. Those who don’t keep the spirit of Çanakkale alive in the depths of their souls cannot utter even a word about our country and nation.”
“WE MADE HISTORY WITH GLORY, DIGNITY AND HONOR”
President Erdoğan went on to say: “We made history in Çanakkale with our blood. We made history by eliminating terrorists from our borders and by repelling putschists by our bare hands as we did on July 15. We made history with glory, dignity and honor. We have many more histories to make. We have a history to make in Manbij. We have a history to make in east of the Euphrates. We have a history to make against the oppression inflicted in Palestine and against the attacks targeting Al-Quds’ sanctity.”
“TURKEY’S PATIENCE AND DETERMINATION IS BEING TESTED”
Pointing out that Turkey’s determination and patience is still being tested over a century later, President Erdoğan said that they are now testing Turkey’s patience and determination by attempting to establish a terror corridor along Turkey’s border with Syria as well as by trying the same method along its border with Iraq, by attempting to violate Turkey’s rights in Cyprus and the East Mediterranean, and by working to restrict Turkey to land and make it unable to step into the sea.
Underlining that the messages sought to be given by the terrorist who conducted the terror attack against the Al Noor Mosque in New Zealand also test Turkey’s patience, President Erdoğan drew attention to the threats against the Turks in the New Zealand shooter’s manifesto, and said: “This is not an individual incident, but an organized one. We are here. We are in Çanakkale. We are in this country ─ with its Thrace and Anatolia. Turks, Kurds, Arabs, Circassians, Bosniaks, Georgians; we are all here, in Çanakkale, in Turkey. We have been here for a thousand years. We will be here till the end of the world. You won’t be able to make Istanbul Constantinople. Your forefathers had come and seen that we had been here. And then some of them had gone back on their feet and some others in coffins. If you are to come with the same intention, then we are waiting for you. Have no doubt that we will see you off, too, the way we did your forefathers!”
