President Erdoğan: We pray that we will double our joy at the end of Ramadan by defeating the pandemic
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the nation via videoconference following the meeting of the Presidential Cabinet.
Concerning the ongoing fight against the coronavirus, President Erdoğan said that a new phase has now begun in which the steps taken to combat the COVID-19 pandemic have started to yield concrete results.
“We pray that we will double our joy at the end of Ramadan by defeating the COVID-19 disease, which has deteriorated into a global catastrophe,” President Erdoğan noted, wishing Ramadan Mubarak to citizens.
Underlining that Turkey approaches 1 million in the total number of tests applied so far and that new cases and mortalities are on the decline, President Erdoğan stated: “It is a positively important milestone that the number of recoveries has now surpassed the number of new cases in Turkey. Turkey fares the best in Europe in terms of death-to-case ratio. Our healthcare system, easily handling the pandemic, carries on its activities without allowing any disruption in other areas.”

Stressing that Turkey is capable of lending support to its friends besides being self-sufficient on many issues in the face of which even the most developed countries end up desperate, President Erdoğan pointed out that Turkey has thus far delivered medical supplies to 55 countries as the part of the fight against the pandemic.
“We have become a hope for the friendly and brotherly communities across the world, boosting their perseverance to fight. At a time when even the developed counties have requested support from Turkey, we have not hesitated to share our means and resources with our friends in a large variety of regions from the Balkans to Africa. And lastly, we will be dispatching medical supplies consisting of surgical masks, face shields, goggles, N95 masks, overalls and disinfectant to the U.S. tomorrow,” the President added.
