President Erdoğan: We stand ready to enhance our cooperation with Chad

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Chad’s Transitional President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno held a joint press conference following their tête-à-tête and the meeting between the delegations at the Presidential Complex.

“WE WANT TO SEE CHAD AMONG OUR COUNTRY’S LEADING PARTNERS IN AFRICA”

Stating that steps that would advance the relations between Turkey and Chad in every dimension were discussed during today’s talks, President Erdoğan said: “We want to see Chad among our country’s leading partners in Africa. Our bilateral trade volume increased by 47 per cent last year and reached $112 million, exceeding the goal we had set. Given the potential we have, we want to deepen and diversify our trade relations. Our new goal is to elevate our bilateral trade volume to some $200 million, and to $500 million at the second stage. We aim to advance our trade and bilateral relations through an approach based on a holistic, inclusive, mutual respect and win-win understanding.”

“WE APPRECIATE THE HANDING OVER OF THE FETO-AFFILIATED SCHOOLS IN N’DJAMENA TO THE TURKISH MAARIF FOUNDATION”

Underscoring that the Turkish Maarif Foundation, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), Turkish Airlines and Turkish NGOs had been contributing to the relations between the two countries, President Erdoğan noted: “It is impossible for us to forget the support our Chadian brothers and sisters provided to the fight against FETO. We appreciate the handing over of the FETO-affiliated schools in N’Djamena to the Turkish Maarif Foundation in 2017. We stand ready to enhance our cooperation with Chad, which has been putting up a concurrent fight against terrorist organizations and armed opposition groups, in the fields of military, defense and security. I wish that the today’s talks may yield auspicious outcomes for our countries.”
