President Erdoğan: We want the multicultural structure of the region to be preserved

 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks at Atatürk Airport in Istanbul before departing for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA IS A KEY COUNTRY IN THE BALKANS”

“We highly value Bosnia and Herzegovina’s security, stability and development with its multicultural structure. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a key country in the Balkans,” President Erdoğan said. “We have very close historical, cultural and social ties with the friendly and brotherly Bosnia and Herzegovina. We have excellent relations, and wide-ranging and very productive cooperation, which we have built on this foundation with the shared will of our two countries. During our visit, we will have the opportunity to discuss possible joint steps we can take to further advance our relations.”

“WE WANT THE MULTICULTURAL STRUCTURE OF THE REGION TO BE PRESERVED”

Noting that he would head to Montenegro on Saturday, August 28 after completing his programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina, President Erdoğan said: “I am very happy to pay my first official visit to the friendly and allied Montenegro. During my visit, I will meet with Montenegro’s President, Parliament Speaker and Prime Minister. We will discuss our bilateral relations as well as current issues on regional and international agenda during the talks.”

“I will also pay a visit to the Ottoman Cemetery and Nizam Mosque, built by Mehmet the Conqueror and restored by the TIKA, in Tuzi,” President Erdoğan said.

“We, as Turkey, attach great importance to the development of the entire Balkans in peace and prosperity. We want the multicultural structure of the region to be preserved, and support every effort made with this aim. I believe our relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro significantly contribute to stability in the Balkans.”
