President Erdoğan: We will allow no interruption or regression in the construction of the great and powerful Türkiye

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a message on Eid al-Adha:
“I salute you with the sincerest feelings and affection. I wholeheartedly congratulate our nation and the Islamic World on Eid al-Adha. I pray for Allah to acknowledge the pilgrimage our citizens are fulfilling as an inseparable part of Eid al-Adha on holy lands. I pray that the animals our citizens sacrifice in person or by proxy with the submissiveness of Hz. Ibrahim and Hz. Ismail as a worship to our Lord be accepted.
With the hope that these holy days may yield auspicious developments and our sacrifices may lead to salvation, I say ‘May hardships give way to ease, your eid be full of joy/May your hearts liberate from woes, your eid be full of joy/May Nimrod feel helpless and be reduced to silence/May you find luck on your side, your eid be full of joy!’ I thank the Lord for letting us observe another Eid al-Adha with health, peace and wellbeing. I particularly congratulate our brothers and sisters who make the eid a means of charity that would put a smile on the face of all the oppressed and victims starting from their close circles. I extend my gratitude to anyone who sticks to our custom of observing eids as days of joy for all of our people from children to the elderly, which we have inherited from our civilization and culture.
“ON THE STRONG INFRASTRUCTURE WE HAVE BUILT OVER THE PAST TWO DECADES, WE HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A MOVE THAT WOULD RAISE TÜRKİYE ABOVE THE LEVEL OF CONTEMPORARY CIVILIZATIONS”
We are going through a period when the world is faced with serious challenges in every area from health to security. Such critical days increase the importance of our unity, solidarity and brotherhood as the nation. The schemes aimed at keeping our country below its rightful level in democracy and development have been inflicting a heavy price on us for generations.
On the strong infrastructure we have built over the past two decades, we have had the opportunity to make a move that would raise Türkiye above the level of contemporary civilizations. Starting with developed countries, the whole world is grappling with their own political, economic, security and social crises. We, on the other hand, work to seize the opportunities we have by focusing on our goals despite all the difficulties we have experienced.
With every development unfolding now, we see again and again the correctness of the choice we made by giving priority to employment in economy about four years ago. We of course know the difficulties in our people’s daily lives caused by the high cost of living and the FX rate fluctuations as well as by the impacts of the worsening global economy on our country. As we overcome these difficulties with the measures we have taken and the programmes we have implemented, the importance of the capabilities we have and the distance we have covered will be better understood.
“WE HAVE WITNESSED MANY TIMES THAT EVERY MOVE WE HAVE MADE FOR A BREAKTHROUGH HAS BEEN INTERRUPTED WITH VARIOUS DIRTY SCHEMES THROUGHOUT THE HISTORY OF THE REPUBLIC”
I ask our nation to lend stronger support to the programmes we have implemented and exercise a little more patience. Achieving Türkiye’s goals for 2023 will enable us to walk decisively towards the vision for 2053, which will be our most precious legacy to the youth.
As the country and nation, we have witnessed many times that every move we have made for a breakthrough has been interrupted with various dirty schemes throughout the history of the Republic. This time, however, we will inshallah allow no interruption or regression to occur in the construction of the great and powerful Türkiye thanks both to the lessons we have learned from history and the advantages we have.
As is the case with every eid, let me conclude my remarks this time as well by calling on the drivers that will take to the roads. There will be quite a long break as the Eid al-Adha, July 15 and weekend holidays have been combined. Some of our citizens have started their journeys towards their hometowns, some towards holiday resorts and some others have hit the roads according to their alternative programs. I expect all our citizens on intercity roads to strictly abide by traffic rules, avoid driving tired, wear seat belt, and be patient and alert. Let us, all of us, take the utmost care not to turn our joy of eid and holiday into a material or spiritual grief. With these sentiments, I once again wish you a happy Eid al-Adha and all the best.”
