President Erdoğan: We will focus our energy entirely on structural reforms with no election until 2023
President and Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed citizens at a campaign rally in the province of Hatay in the run-up to the local elections scheduled for March 31, 2019.
Referring to the vote held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT) in which the candidate of the People’s Alliance, Mustafa Şentop, an AK Party MP for Tekirdağ, was elected as the Speaker of the Parliament, President Erdoğan wished success to Mr. Şentop and expressed his hope for the People’s Alliance to score many more achievements.
“WE DO POLITICS AMONGST THE PEOPLE AND CITIZENS, NOT IN IVORY TOWERS”
Recalling that he visited Hatay 16 times previously, President Erdoğan stated that they remember Hatay and its locals not only during election periods, and said: “That is so because we love the country and the people. We do politics amongst the people and citizens, not in ivory towers like others.”
Describing politics as a business of self-sacrificing, love, affection, vision and foresight, President Erdoğan underlined that he, as a person engaged in politics for 40 years, has always worked to fulfill whatever he has promised.
It is the AK Party that has earned the Turkish politics the habit of transparency and accountability, said President Erdoğan, noting that they have constitutionalized in Turkey the principle of accountability through their 100-day action plans. Further stressing that 97 percent of the first 100-day action plan has been realized, President Erdoğan pointed out that they will now ensure the implementation of the 24 billion Turkish liras’ worth of 454 actions laid down in the second 100-day action plan within the foreseen timeframe.
