President Erdoğan: We will make Turkey a global player in defense industry in the period ahead

 

President and Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke during a campaign rally in the capital Ankara in the run-up to the local elections scheduled for March 31, 2019.

Making remarks on the upcoming local elections, President Erdoğan pointed out that they have introduced 120 billion Turkish liras’ worth of investments and services in Ankara over the past 17 years in various areas including education, healthcare and transportation, and noted: “We will elevate Ankara and Turkey on the pillars of education, healthcare, justice and security.”

Citing some of the investments and services introduced in Ankara, President Erdoğan underlined that they have made Ankara the heart of defense industry. Further stressing that four of the world’s top 100 defense industry firms are located in Ankara, President Erdoğan went on to say that the 50 per cent of Turkey’s defense industry exports in 2018, which was over 2 billion dollars, was realized by Ankara. President Erdoğan noted: “In the period ahead, along with Ankara, we will make Turkey a global player in defense industry with unique designs and advance technology.”
