President Erdoğan: We will not allow some circles to confine our country, which has the longest coastline in the Mediterranean, to our shores
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the presentation ceremony of the State Medal Pride for ghazis and the relatives of martyrs at the Presidential Complex.
Underlining that Turkey never hesitates to protect the rights of the Turkish people both at home and abroad, President Erdoğan said that Turkey’s fight against terror lives the most successful period of its history thanks to the efforts of the security forces. The President noted that according to the country’s new security concept, terrorists are neutralized in their own lairs no matter where they hide.
Noting that the attempts to encircle Turkey by means of a terror corridor along its southern borders have been foiled with the operations conducted in Syria, President Erdoğan stressed that the north of Iraq is no longer a safe haven for the separatist terrorist organization thanks to Turkey’s efforts.
“WE DEFEND TILL THE END THE RIGHTS OF TURKEY AND THE TRNC ARISING FROM INTERNATIONAL LAW IN THE EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN”
“We defend till the end the rights of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) arising from international law in the Eastern Mediterranean,” underlined the President, and added: “We will not allow some circles to confine our country, which has the longest coastline in the Mediterranean, to our shores. It is now clear to all the parties of the issue that the language of threats doesn’t work and Turkey will not yield to blackmail and banditry. It is of course an outcome of our country’s determined stance that diplomacy has been shown in recent days as the venue for a resolution to the issue.”
Stressing that Turkey has been stating since the beginning that the issue should be resolved through dialogue and negotiations, President Erdoğan said: We have always acted with the dignity of being right and a major state despite the other party’s provocations and childish behavior. Turkey’s responsible and calm but also determined stance has played an important role in carrying the process to this level. We will continue to display the necessary maturity in the future as well. We will continue to work for the peace, serenity and stability of our region along with our country.”
