President Erdoğan: We will overcome this scourge of pandemic by making sacrifices all together
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet meeting.
“KEEPING THE CLOSED MARAŞ CLOSED THUS FAR WAS A SIGN OF GOODWILL BY THE TURKISH CYPRIOT SIDE”
Referring to his recent visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on the occasion of the 37th foundation anniversary of the TRNC, President Erdoğan, drawing attention to the visit he paid to the Closed Maraş, which had been reopened after long years of closure, said keeping the Closed Maraş closed thus far was a sign of sincerity and goodwill by the Turkish Cypriot side, but that this gesture of goodwill has not been reciprocated by the Greek side.
Pointing to his bilateral meeting with President Ersin Tatar of the TRNC, President Erdoğan said that he discussed with President Tatar the steps aimed at further strengthening the cooperation between the countries. Stating that leaving aside the issues, which have become meaningless to discuss or negotiate from now on due to the irreconcilable attitudes of Greece and the Greek side, President Erdoğan stressed that they start making preparations for building a new future.
“COVID-19 CONTINUES TO SPREAD IN THE ENTIRE WORLD”
Touching upon the COVID-19 pandemic, President Erdoğan said the pandemic, which has claimed the lives of nearly 1.35 million people thus far, continues to spread in the entire world, and that although promising developments take place regarding vaccine studies, the threat increasingly continues.
Stating that Turkey is obliged to achieve success in the fight against the pandemic while keeping its economy alive, President Erdoğan noted: “We will inshallah overcome this scourge of pandemic by making sacrifices all together and look to the future in good health and peace.”
