President Erdoğan: We will preserve Istanbul as an Islamic and Turkish city till the end of the world

Addressing citizens in Istanbul, President Erdoğan underlined that efforts targeting Turkey are doomed to failure and said: “In solidarity with our people, we will continue to preserve Istanbul, where an era ended and a new one started, as an Islamic and Turkish city till the end of the world.”
President and Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan along with Chairman Devlet Bahçeli of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) attended a joint campaign rally of the People’s Alliance in the province of Istanbul in the run-up to the local elections scheduled for March 31, 2019.
1.6 MILLION CITIZENS ATTEND THE RALLY
Drawing attention to the official figures according to which some 1.6 million citizens took part in the campaign rally at the Yenikapı meeting area in Istanbul, President Erdoğan said: “Back on August 7, we had come together here, yet again, just after July 15 and shown our unity and brotherhood to all, foe and friend alike. The spirit of Yenikapı is a continuation of the spirit that conquered Istanbul and entrusted it to us.”
Describing the People’s Alliance between the AK Party and the MHP as an alliance that covers not only the two parties but the entire Turkey, President Erdoğan said: “Since that is the case, anyone who targets Turkey attacks the People’s Alliance. Whatever they do from inside or outside is futile. In solidarity with our people, we will continue to preserve Istanbul, where an era ended and a new one started, as an Islamic and Turkish city till the end of the world.”
