President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex

Holding a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting, President Erdoğan said: “We stand firmly by the Palestinian people, who defend their lands, freedom and dignity. Everyone, be them friend or foe, is very well aware of the fact that Türkiye today supports the oppressed fighting for freedom and justice.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex.

“THE PALESTINIAN CAUSE LEFT ITS MARK ON THE 80TH UNGA”

Drawing attention to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, President Erdoğan underscored that the Palestinian cause left its mark on the session despite Israel’s efforts to prevent it, and said: “The conference co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia on the two-state solution on September 22 attracted great attention. We proved our country’s stance in a clear manner by participating in the conference.”

Also touching upon his address to the General Assembly, President Erdoğan stated that they highlighted the atrocity, which has been going on in Gaza and which has already exceeded the level of genocide and turned into a mass killing, and went on to say: “Besides the massacre in Gaza, we conveyed messages regarding the regions, from Africa to Asia, the Balkans to the Latin America, which have special places in Türkiye’s foreign policy. We once again defended the Turkish Cypriots’ rightful cause in the strongest manner. Based on the fact that there are two different states and two different peoples in the Island, we reiterated our call for the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.”

“THE NUMBER OF COUNTRIES THAT RECOGNIZES PALESTINE HAS INCREASED TO 158”

Stating that during both the bilateral talks and other meetings almost everyone acknowledged that Netanyahu, who has been backed into a corner due to the corruption investigations, was dragging the region, even the world into the fire just to cling to power, President Erdoğan added: “It is clearly seen that what we witness here is not a statecraft but a massacre cadre that feeds on blood and chaos. Except for a handful of countries, almost no one wants to stand next to or pose with Israel or Netanyahu government.”

Underscoring that 10 Western countries, including the United Kingdom and France, announced at the General Assembly that they recognized Palestine, President Erdoğan stated that it is extremely important that the two member countries of the Security Council have recognized the Palestinian state, and continued as follows: “As a county that spearheads, so to speak, these efforts, we are very pleased that the number of countries that recognizes Palestine has increased to 158. Recognition is obviously valuable as a first step. What must be done from now on is to do what recognition requires. And the path to that goes through striving for the establishment of a State of Palestine, based on 1967 borders, with al-Quds as its capital. Steps to be taken otherwise will fall short. In fact, that is exactly what Israel seeks to achieve. What lies behind the policies of the annexation of the West Bank and the depopulation of Gaza is the intention to completely eliminate the possibility of a free Palestinian state. And the reason for that is to realize the Greater Israel project.”

“WE HELD A COMPREHENSIVE AND PRODUCTIVE MEETING WITH MR. TRUMP”

“We neither give in to the pressures of the global Zionist lobby nor bow down to the smear campaigns of their hitmen among us. We stand firmly by the Palestinian people, who defend their lands, freedom and dignity. Everyone, be them friend or foe, is very well aware of the fact that Türkiye today supports the oppressed fighting for freedom and justice,” President Erdoğan said.

Also pointing to his meeting with President Donald J. Trump of the U.S. in Washington D.C., President Erdoğan noted: “We held a comprehensive and productive meeting with Mr. Trump and his delegation at the White House on September 25. We addressed many issues, bilateral trade, investments, energy and defense industry in particular, with him in a friendly environment. We discussed the steps to be taken to achieve the 100-billion-dollar trade volume goal we had set during Mr. Trump’s first term. The Gaza atrocity, Israel’s increasing aggression, the Russia-Ukraine war and regional developments were high on our agenda. We also reviewed in detail the preservation of the stability in Syria and the establishment of the peace environment in the Middle East.”
