President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with President Vladimir Putin of Russia.

The call addressed the Israel-Iran conflict, bilateral relations, and regional issues.

President Erdoğan stated that the spiral of violence triggered by Israel’s attacks on Iran is putting the security of the entire region at risk, that the Netanyahu government’s lawless stance poses a clear threat to the international system, and that the region cannot withstand another war.

Noting that since the very beginning, Türkiye has focused its efforts on diplomatic initiatives to bring an end to the attacks, President Erdoğan emphasized that diplomacy is the only way to resolve issues with Iran, and added that there must be a swift return to the negotiating table.

President Erdoğan also underlined the importance of ensuring that Israel’s attacks on Iran do not divert attention from the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and stated that the likelihood of Israel attempting to create new faits accomplis in the region remains high.

Russian President Putin also expressed his agreement with President Erdoğan on the need to halt the clashes as soon as possible and to open space for diplomacy.
