Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın meets with U.S. Special Representative for Syria James Jeffrey
During the meeting held at the Presidential Complex between the Turkish delegation headed by Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın and the U.S. delegation headed by U.S. Special Representative for Syria James Jeffrey, the formation of a safe zone east of the Euphrates and the latest developments in Syria, first and foremost the fight against all terrorist groups including DAESH and PKK/YPG/PYD, were discussed.
On the agenda of the meeting, during which Turkey’s national security priorities were underscored, were the fight against terror across Syria, the Manbij Roadmap, the constitutional committee and achieving a political settlement within the framework of Syria’s territorial integrity.
It was noted during the meeting that a safe zone can be established only through a plan that meets Turkey’s expectations. The importance of maintaining cooperation on Syria in line with the principles of trust and transparency was also stressed.
