President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex.

President Erdogan said: “We thoroughly discussed critical issues during today’s cabinet meeting. We had an in-depth review of the developments in foreign policy. We analyzed the wildfires which, with the arrival of summer, intensified in our country along with the rest of the world. We made an assessment of the good news we took recently, including the upgrade in our country’s credit rating and the expansion of our Central Bank reserves to 169 billion dollars. We reviewed the recent situation about the terror-free Türkiye process. Also on the agenda were our moves in defense industry that draw the entire world’s admiration. We have taken important decisions concerning all these issues to take our country closer to its goals.”

“WE WILL STAND BY THE TURKISH CYPRIOTS IN ALL THE STEPS THEY TAKE TOWARD A PROSPEROUS FUTURE”

Recalling his visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on July 20 on the Peace and Freedom Day, President Erdoğan stated: “Celebrating with great enthusiasm the 51st anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation with our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters once again, we remembered with grace our heroic martyrs. We crowned our visit with the inauguration of the Maraş Medical Center and the Lefkoşa North Beltway Flyover Junction and Connected Roads. During the same event, we also broke ground for the first phase of the Yeni Lefkoşa Public Hospital, which has a 50,000-sq km indoor area and 320-bed capacity. I hope the projects we inaugurated and broke ground for will be auspicious for our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters. As the motherland and the guarantor country, we will stand with the Turkish Cypriots in all the steps they take toward a prosperous future.”

“WE WILL CONTINUE OUR INVESTMENTS AT FULL PACE IN DEFENSE INDUSTRY”

Noting that he attended the opening ceremony of the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) in Istanbul, President Erdoğan said: “Once again, there was great interest in the fair, which is one of the most comprehensive and most influential occasions globally in its own realm. 231 delegations and 980 delegation members participated in the IDEF 2025, where products with state-of-the-art technology were showcased.”

President Erdoğan added: “The contracts signed during the fair exceeded 9 billion dollars in commercial value. The contract for the procurement of 48 KAAN fighters to Indonesia, as well as the agreement on the purchase of Eurofighters are of exceptional importance to our country. We, thus, reaffirmed our determination to scale up our deterrence in keeping with our needs on one hand, and to implement our own projects on the other hand. We will continue our investments at full pace in defense industry, where we have increased the share of domestic production from around 20 percent to over 80 percent over the past 23 years.”

“TÜRKİYE HAS PURSUED A BALANCED, FAIR AND PEACEFUL POLICY SINCE DAY ONE IN THE RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR”

Highlighting Türkiye’s peace diplomacy in the face of the escalation in the crises, conflicts and wars in its near environ, President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye has pursued a balanced, fair and peaceful policy since day one in the Russia-Ukraine war, and added: “The grain corridor agreement, prisoner swaps, and the talks in Istanbul and Antalya are the outcomes of our belief in peace. 1000 prisoners were exchanged mutually following the first round of the negotiations held in Istanbul on May 16. Following the second round on June 2, bodies of 97 Russian soldiers were exchanged for bodies of as many as 7,060 Ukrainian soldiers, with a prisoner exchange comprised of 1,200 people completed. During the third round of the negotiations on July 23, facilitated by our Foreign Minister, an agreement was reached to exchange more prisoners of war, numbering at least 1.200 individuals. We believe this war must stop. I stress at every opportunity that we are ready to host a meeting at the leaders’ level. It is Türkiye’s most sincere wish that just as the negotiation table was set up in Istanbul, a peace table will also be set up in Türkiye in the not-so-distant future, bringing this bloody war to an end.”

“THE PATH WE HAVE TAKEN UP WILL DEFINITELY LEAD US TO A STRONG TÜRKİYE WITH ITS DEMOCRACY AND ECONOMY”

Pointing out that while the Turkish government is endeavoring for peace across the region, it is also determinedly dealing with evil circles that seek to undermine the peace and unity of the country, President Erdoğan said, “the terror-free Türkiye process is a project of not only the People’s Alliance but also of our government, our state, and most importantly, our nation. It is a dream, a wish, and an expectation of the 86 million. We see this dream coming true step by step. All can rest assured that this path we have taken up will definitely lead us to a strong Türkiye with its democracy and economy,” and added: “At the end of this path are brotherhood, development, peace, solidarity, and the will to build a shared future. We are well aware of the magnitude of our responsibilities.”
