“The TRNC will stand forever with the support of Türkiye”

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the TRNC Republic Complex, President Erdoğan said: “No one should forget this; we may have different names, but when it comes to the Cyprus cause, our surname is the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. When it comes to protecting the interests of the Turkish Cypriot people, all 86 million people share the same feeling and sensitivity. Those, who seek to hinder the development of the Turkish Cypriot people, will find Türkiye's unparalleled solidarity against them.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Presidential and Republic Assembly Complex of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in Lefkoşa.

“Our political parties, lifestyles and origins may be different, but our common ground and goals that hold us together are the same. No one should forget this; we may have different names, but when it comes to the Cyprus cause, our surname is the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. When it comes to protecting the interests of the Turkish Cypriot people, all 86 million people share the same feeling and sensitivity.  Those, who seek to hinder the development of the Turkish Cypriot people, will find Türkiye's unparalleled solidarity against them.

Those who are seditious, disruptive, those who are voluntary apparatus for the enemies of the Turkish Cypriot people will lose. The TRNC will stand forever with the support of guarantor country Türkiye. I would like to take this occasion to underline once again that unless the unjust isolation to which the Turkish Cypriots are subjected ends, and unless a fair, permanent and sustainable solution in line with the realities of the island is reached on the island, it is out of the question for us to take the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus as an interlocutor, to trade with it, and to allow it to use our ports. The efforts of the arrogant mentality, which does not see the Turkish Cypriots, with whom it has shared the same island for centuries, as equal to itself, to equate itself with guarantor Türkiye are futile. No one can make the Turkish Cypriot people pay the price of the lack of a solution in Cyprus, the cost of obstructing the solution by acting in a spoiled manner. The Turkish Cypriot people have repeatedly demonstrated their goodwill, and that they are the ones who want a lasting and fair solution.
