“Turkish Red Crescent is present wherever it is needed”
Addressing the Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) General Assembly, President Erdoğan said: “The Turkish Red Crescent, Türkiye’s most established civil society organization, continues to be present today as well wherever it is needed. It is indeed a long-standing army of benevolence whose history and services make us all proud.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the Turkish Red Crescent’s 105th General Assembly in Ankara.
“TURKISH RED CRESCENT HAS EXTENDED OUR COUNTRY’S HELPING HAND TO THE PEOPLE AFFECTED BY WARS IN PALESTINE, SYRIA, SOMALIA, AFGHANISTAN, BOSNIA, IRAQ”
President Erdoğan said: “We have always seen the Turkish Red Crescent at the forefront not only inside our country but in all the crisis zones as well. It has extended our country’s helping hand to the people affected by wars in Palestine, Syria, Somalia, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Iraq and many other places. In pandemics, natural disasters, and regions of deprivation, it has rushed to aid wherever our country’s help has been called for. It has touched the lives of refugees, the poor, victims, and the downtrodden. In other words, whenever eyes have looked for the Red Crescent, the Turkish Red Crescent has stood there with all its means and resources. May Allah bless our Red Crescent community who have extended our nation’s hand of aid and solidarity to all corners of the world. The Turkish Red Crescent, Türkiye’s most established civil society organization, continues to be present today as well wherever it is needed. The President of the Turkish Red Crescent has just informed us in a detailed manner about the activities, services and dedicated efforts of the institution. It is indeed a long-standing army of benevolence whose history and services make us all proud.”
“IN THE GEOGRAPHIES THAT NO ONE CAN REACH, AND IN THE REGIONS THAT NO ONE CARES ABOUT, OUR RED CRESCENT IS INSTILLING HOPE IN THE GRIEVING HEARTS”
President Erdoğan stated: “The Turkish Red Crescent has never abandoned our Gazan brothers and sisters since Israel’s atrocious attacks started on October 7, 2023. The Turkish Red Crescent, which filled benevolence vessels, coordinated by AFAD, with food, hygiene, housing, medical supplies, assumes significant roles in alleviating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The soup kitchen in Gaza has provided 5.2 million meals to the people of Gaza struggling with hunger so far and has distributed 1.606 million liters of water. Our Red Crescent, having already distributed sacrificial meat and ready-to-eat food cans before Ramadan, set up iftar tables for 840 thousand people in different parts of Palestine during the holy month of Ramadan. Besides other aid efforts, hot meals are being delivered daily for 15 thousand people in Gaza. From Afghanistan to Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina to Pakistan, Somalia to Syria and Yemen, wherever there is an innocent waiting for the Red Crescent, the Turkish Red Crescent recognizes no obstacles to deliver aid. In the geographies that no one can reach, and in the regions that no one cares about, our Red Crescent is instilling hope in the grieving hearts.”
