President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the 11th Turkish Medical World Congress and TÜSEB Aziz Sancar Science, Service and Incentive Awards Ceremony at Beştepe Nation’s Convention and Culture Center in Ankara.
“WE PROVIDE FIRST-CLASS HEALTHCARE SERVICES TO OUR 86 MILLION CITIZENS”
“In line with our people-centered political approach, we have placed great importance on healthcare for the last 23 years. Through our efforts, we have realized the dream for an accessible, high-quality, and affordable healthcare system. Guided by the principle of the social state, one of the most fundamental provisions of our Constitution, we have ensured that our citizens in financial difficulties also can equally benefit from healthcare services. The days when people rushed to get medication at dawn, waited in line for hours for a physical exam, and patients were held hostage when they couldn't afford to cover the bill are long gone, hopefully never to return. Today, with a total of over 1,470,000 healthcare personnel, we provide first-class healthcare services to 86 million citizens. Since 2002, we have increased our staff by 288 percent,” President Erdoğan said.
“We have renovated or rebuilt 80 percent of our public hospitals. We have opened 794 new hospitals, bringing the total number of beds in public hospitals to 173 thousand,” President Erdoğan said.
“The healthcare system we have established, especially our city hospitals, is followed with interest by numerous countries around the world. Thanks to our robust healthcare infrastructure, we have become a country capable of providing healthcare services in various branches not only to citizens of countries in our region but also on a global scale, particularly to European countries. We have implemented many investments, projects and revolutionary reforms that would take days, let alone hours, to list here,” President Erdoğan said.
