“We are reaping the fruits of our economic programme despite the hot conflicts in our region”

Holding a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting, President Erdoğan said: “We are reaping the fruits of our economic programme in many fields despite the hot conflicts in our region, the uncertainties in global economy, and the negative campaigns of certain circles. We will hopefully reach a much better point.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Ahlat Presidential Complex.
“WE REVIEWED THE ADDITIONAL STEPS OUR COUNTRY CAN TAKE TO STOP THE ATROCITIES IN GAZA”
Speaking on the matters addressed during the cabinet meeting, President Erdoğan said: “During the meeting, we discussed a wide range of issues, including the latest developments in economy and the genocide in Gaza. At least 20 Palestinians and five journalists were martyred today in Israel’s atrocious attacks on Nasser Hospital in Gaza. The wild-eyed Netanyahu government relentlessly continues its savage attacks to destroy everything that represents humanity. In this regard, we reviewed the additional steps our country can take in the period ahead to stop the atrocities in Gaza, deliver more aid to the innocents in Gaza, and mobilize the front of humanity.”
“WE ARE RAPIDLY MAKING OUR PREPARATIONS CONCERNING THE REFORMS WE WILL BE IMPLEMENTING”
Noting that the macroeconomic stability and reform program pursued for the past 2.5 years successfully passes stress tests, President Erdoğan stated: “Our Central Bank reserves have reached 176.5 billion dollars, an all-time high in the history of the Republic. The recovery in our stock exchange has gained momentum in recent weeks. As the cost of internal and external borrowing reduces, the trust in Turkish lira is growing rapidly. Inflation has been decreasing for 14 months in a row. Inflation forecasts are growing more positive in all circles. As regards exports, we have thankfully reached 25 billion dollars, the highest figure in our history.”
President Erdoğan added: “The picture is quite positive in industrial production index, as well. Our industrial production grew by 0.7 percent month-on-month and 8.3 percent year-on-year. There seems no problem in inflation figures, either. With 8.6, our unemployment figures stand at single digits for the last 26 months. We are indeed reaping the fruits of our economic programme in many fields despite the hot conflicts in our region, the uncertainties in global economy, and the negative campaigns of certain circles. We will hopefully reach a much better point. The Turkish economy will complete its structural transformation. Viewing 2026 as the year of reforms in economy, we are rapidly making our preparations concerning the reforms we will be implementing.”
“KARS-IĞDIR-ARALIK-DILUCU RAILWAY LINE WILL OPEN THE DOOR OF THE ZANGEZUR CORRIDOR”
Drawing attention to the recent moves made in transportation, President Erdoğan said: “On August 22, we broke ground for a project that is of strategic importance for our country and the region. We had the pride of launching the construction of the Kars-Iğdır-Aralık-Dilucu railway line, which will open the door of the Zangezur Corridor. The Zangezur passage, as you know, is a peace project for our entire region. Once the project is fully implemented in all its elements, economic cooperation between Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Armenia will reach a new dimension. Constituting this peace project’s backbone, the 224-km-long Kars-Iğdır-Aralık-Dilucu railway line will be constructed as a double-track, electrified and signaled system. The link will have capacity to carry 5.5 million passengers and 15 million metric tons of cargo a year. Once this project, worth 2.4 billion euros, becomes operational, the international trade route stretching from China to Britain will be more efficient.”
